MLD therapy is different, by design
Although ‘massage’ is in the name, lymphatic and traditional massage are quite different in terms of health goals and approach. MLD increases lymph flow to address swelling and promote healing. Lymphatic therapy techniques are distinct, using light pressure and applied in particular patterns to decongest tissues and calm pain. MLD therapists are specifically trained and certified to provide lymphatic work including manual lymphatic drainage and combined decongestive therapy.
